Bed Rest

Well, it's official. I am now on bed rest...starting Monday. At my regular doctor appointment on Wednesday my blood pressure was pretty high and Dr. Driskill decided to run some tests. On Friday I went back for the results and I have preeclampsia, so I'm off work until after the baby is born. He told me it was OK to go back to work on Friday to finish the day. We got me a sub lined up and she came to meet with me Friday afternoon. Today I layed around most of the day, but had to go to school to work on lesson plans. I have next weeks lesson plans done and brought some books home to work on more lesson plans. Apparently, I have some time on my hands coming up! Tomorrow Andrew took off work for us to make a quick trip to Lubbock to pick up the travel system and get a few other necessities for Austin. Combined with some online ordering and tomorrow's trip, we should have everything Austin will need right when he comes home. Sounds like a great reason to shop to me! I should definitely get caught up on soap operas, Dr. Oz, and Oprah episodes over the next few weeks!

Oh, yes I did!`

I made a quick trip to Lubbock yesterday for BABY shopping! I bought Austin's travel system. They didn't have it in stock, so it had to be ordered and will arrive in 7-14 days. I can't wait to get it! I 've heard many people bash pregnant women that take these parking places, but YES I did take it! I had absolutely no guilt about it either!
Now if they just had these parking places at Kohl's...

Valentine's Day

I really haven't had that many cravings lately, but I DID have one on Sunday night. Someone mentioned red velvet cake and then that's all I could think about...so Mom made me one. YUM!! It was delicious and hit the spot! I must say this years Valentines Day was nothing like last years. Last year we bought our wedding rings, had lunch at Trudys, dinner reservations at Iron Cactus, went canoeing, went on a train ride, and many other things. I looked back at that blog post earlier and WOW!! This year Andrew left my gifts out on the table when he left for work and I saw them after he was gone. He got his when he came home from work...pretty late that night. No Valentines dinner for us! We'll have to work on that this weekend though! I got him an ugly pullover..ha ha!
He gave me flowers, chocolates, and I'm going to go do a little shopping this weekend!

The BIGGEST part of our Valentines Day was that Andrew's Christmas present came in! His iphone! Our cell phone service is through Alltel and they are switching to AT&T. Andrew HAD to have an iphone when we got to upgrade. It was supposed to be in awhile ago, but I guess they've had delays. I got my new one too, but I'm sticking with my blackberry.

He was PUMPED when he saw his new iphone! We still have to wait to activate them for a couple of more weeks though!

Guessing Game!

Play our baby guessing game! There is a link on the right side of this page that says ExpectNet.com. Click on it and it will take you to a game to guess Austin's birthday, height, weight, etc. BTW...I strongly recommend to guess that he's a boy;). Happy guessing!

Baby Shower Time

Baby Austin is already a bit spoiled, but that's how it's supposed to be! My friend, Maria, has a little boy and saved all of his things. She is currently 40+ weeks pregnant (she was due on February 6th), but apparently her baby girl is pretty comfy in her tummy. (Come on Baby Caelyn! We're ready to meet you!) Once she found out she was having a little girl, she gave me Benton's things she had saved. Add her things along with the things I've already been given (I've had a lot of kids at school bring little outfits for Austin already) and WOW! Austin already has a nice assortment of shoes... He also has a great selection of clothes! This does not even include the onesies and pajamas!

AND we are super excited to have a shower for Austin! I have one coming up on February 22nd at Stone! I just got the cute invitation today! Can't wait!

There will be another one March 5th for others outside of school. We feel very lucky to have so many people be so generous and to already love Austin so much:).

Farewell Fleharty

My snobby friend, Cindy, announced a few weeks ago she's moving. Just kidding! She's not snobby at all, but she really is moving to Houston! One night we went to dinner with a couple of other friends, Malinda and Chaundra, and talked about our first impressions of each other. We all thought each other were snobby when we first met! It's pretty funny thinking back on that now after we all became such good friends. Cindy, Chaudra, and I all started at Stone the same year and Malinda has been there one year longer. Last night I went to a little goodbye party for Cindy and had a great time. Cindy, you will be missed, BUT you must come back for visits. Also, I'm going to come see you and drag you to an Astros baseball game...kicking and screaming or not. She's a little misguided and doesn't like sports;). How can that be? It was nice getting out and going to her party after such a crazy week. I worked Monday and then we had a delay on Tuesday due to the weather. I was off Wednesday and Thursday because of the ice and snow. On Friday the weather was a little better, but we got the day off because of the governor declared a state of emergency due to energy shortage. All that was good for me, but not so much for Andrew. He still had to go to work and was out in the cold for most of one of the days. The terribly cold weather has caused them problems and unfortunately we have more snow coming, but at least it's not supposed to be as cold.

Baby, it's cold outside!

I was was starting to think we wouldn't get any snow or any delays this year. We've had a couple of hopeful days only for no snow to come through. Finally, today I got my snow. This is only after doing the snow dance on Monday a special visitor taught my class. Last night as Andrew and I were coming home around 8 or so it started snowing. Not a whole lot of the snow stuck, but it was wet and ice formed quickly on the roads. This morning Andrew and I woke up to the wonderful sound of the phone ringing wiht the recorded message the schools were delayed! This was great, but also bad. I got to to stay home an extra 3 hours, but Andrew had to go to work. This isn't like a normal snow around here where it's in the 20s or 30s. It's PAINFULLY cold. We're talking it's 6 degrees and feels like -9 right now! It doesn't usually get that cold in Hobbs, NM! It's snowing again now and I wouldn't be surprised if we got another delay or even cancellation tomorrow. Chica is NOT overly excited about this snow! She is COLD, but is managing to keep warm!
