Cap'n Austin

When we went to the pediatric eye doctor she diagnosed Austin with intermittent alternating lazy eyes. Soooo...Austin has to wear an eye patch 2 hours a day and alternate eyes daily. I was a little sad at first when we put the patch on, BUT I've decided it gives him even more character. Remember the whole pirate thing with Texas Tech? I think he's just showing his true roots. How cute is my Captain Austin? ARGH!!!! He has been tolerating it SOOO well! I'm truly shocked. When we put it on the first time, he seemed a little confused. He doesn't like it WHILE I'm putting it on, but he seems to forget about it after it's on there. I THINK I can already tell his eyes are getting better! Check out the cute video below. Make sure you watch all of it and have the volume on. You can hear Austin's new word...

El Paso Trip

Last weekend we went to El Paso. We've noticed Austin has a little bit of a lazy eye, so we took him to a pediatric eye doctor there. My friend, Marcia, has 2 brothers and a dad that are eye doctors. They highly recommend this doctor, so we went there! Here we are waiting for his appointment. The place was very kid friendly! We made a pretty fun weekend out of it. After the doctor we all went back to take a nap. Austin had his eyes dilated, so we had to stay indoors all day Friday. We did manage to get in a little shopping though! Saturday was our day to get to go to the zoo! Austin liked it! We got a giggle out of this bear...

Check out those gigantic tortoises!

I thought this wasn't real at first!

Tigers!

Austin rode his first carousel...

After the zoo this baby was TIRED! He was starting to fall asleep in his stroller as we were leaving the zoo and he NEVER does that...he's too nosy! By the time we got him buckled in and started the car he was OUT...

Andrew and I are still amazed that on one side of the interstate is America and on the other is Mexico!

We headed home Saturday evening. On Sunday we got to go to dinner with the Maynards. Austin tried to be very sociable, but Brenden was shy.

It was an exciting weekend!

10 Months Old

We have a 10 month old! Austin has HATED his car seat for quite some time now. He's so strong he would lift his butt where it wouldn't touch the sit when I put him. We decided it was time to get a big boy seat since we would have to get a new one soon anyway. Here he is in his new seat that he likes MUCH better. He still wimpers sometimes a little when I put him in it, but nothing like it used to be. Thanks, Cindy, for the excellent advice on the car seat! Last week Hobbs got a blizzard, I mean REALLY! It was insane! I've heard different reports of between 10-12 inches! We were stuck at school all day. Here's outside my classroom window during the day...

After school it was INSANE trying to get out of the parking lot. I took Kamden and Kason to my parents' house and they had to walk in my footsteps. Once we got to the car we had to sit there FOREVER to let it warm up and melt some of the snow off. I would get out and rake off snow for awhile and then get back in and warm up for a little while. It was a LOT of snow!

Andrew measured 7 inches on top of my car AFTER I got home and it had warmed up after driving for 45 minutes to my parents house and then home!

OK, back to baby....

And his 10 month old pictures! He's sooo cool...

And another one like that...

And that was where the cooperation ended...This kid is fascinated by the booger sucker!

Admiring himself in the mirror, I can't say that I blame him! In this picture you can see that he does actually have hair!

I can't believe my sweet boy is 10 months old! This month he has REALLY learned to play Peak a Boo! He loves it! He likes to hide behind stuff now and then pop up. He also likes a blanket or towel over his head and then he yanks it off. So sweet! We've started practicing on walking, but we have a long way to go before we get there. Austin's favorite toy is a music table he got for Christmas. It fascinates him. He still loves his bath time. He plays and plays in there. Sometimes he even dunks his face. It always surprises him, but he never cries. We still start his bedtime routine around 8:00 and he is put in bed around 8:30. He is suprisingly easy to put to bed, considering how difficult he is on so many other things! He has been getting up around 4 to eat and then if he has to go my parents I get him up at 7:15. If he gets to stay home, sometimes he will sleep until 8ish. First thing in the morning he LOVES to play. He plays by himself very well in the morning. He is constantly on the go and SO very busy. He recently has started to like to sit on my lap and watch TV with me for awhile and sometimes he'll just fall asleep. He eats a fruit and veggie for lunch and also the same for dinner. He LOVES to have Puffs for snacks! They're his favorite! We have the kitchen blocked off and doesn't go in there often. I do let him go in there while I'm cooking dinner or doing bottles. He loves to scoot around on that floor. I think he likes it because he can go that much faster on the tile! He gives kisses and loves. He's real sweet about laying his cheek on my cheek. In the past week he has learned to say ball, it comes out, "Ba." I've been practicing on giving me five and blowing kisses, but we still have a ways to go on those. Yep, he's still a keeper;).

Happy New Year!

Yep, Austin was wild and crazy on New Years Eve! Ha ha! We took this one just before he went to bed...at 8:30:). Austin is old news now...he was born LAST year!

Our refrigerator went out the other day and we got to purchase a new one=/. While I was at Lowe's looking at new ones I happen to see the product. I'm a little offended by it;)...

The other night Andrew, Austin, and I got to meet Scott, Shara, Miranda, and Addison for dinner at Applebees. Austin was trying on Daddy's hat. I really don't think it looks good on him! Ha!

Shara and Addi loving on Austin...

This has been Andrew's week off. I came home from work the other day to his, so I went and crawled into bed and took my own nap!

Austin the Puff Thief! He LOVES his Puff snacks!

These are from New Year's Day at our house. We had some pretty good jokes regarding taking pictures. I busted out the camera and told them to look seductive...

Yep, they got it going on...

And the boys pigging out in the living room...

Happy New Year to everyone! We had a wonderful 2011 and looking forward to a fantastic 2012!!

The loot!

We have had sooooo much fun over this Christmas break. I can't even tell ya! Kent, Karen, Pete, Ashly, Emily, and Joyce all came over to Hobbs to see us. We had dinner and invited my parents over too. We had a great dinner (courtesy of yours truly). My parents headed to the Eagle basketball game and we got ready for a Bezzerwizzer throwdown. We LOVE this game! Karen and I won one game and Kent and Pete won one game. It was FUN! Austin LOVES Kent. Kent's a little wild and crazy and very entertaining for Austin! On Friday I went back with them to Odessa to see Danny and Mary Lou there were here from Austin. Unfortunately, Andrew had to work and didn't get to go with us. Here we are at Rosa's and Kent is flying Airplane Austin around... Oh yes! He loves his Uncle Kent!

Austin had so much fun playing with the girls. They were soooooo good with him!

Brother/sister love...they NEVER pick on each other;)...

Austin made a haul! When Kristi and I were little my mom always made us get our gifts together in front of the tree to take a picture. (I thought this was such a pain sometimes!) Well, here's Austin's picture with all of his loot. He got some FUN stuff! We're having a ball playing with everything!

Sweet Emily with Austin...

Austin LOVES his new car! I put the pillow behind him and kicked back and reclined for awhile...

What a wonderful break it's been. It's going to be soooo hard to go back, but at least we still have a few more days.
